Hi I'm Ziggy aka Ziggy wigwig !!
Since I am the oldest I felt it would only be right that I went first . May 1,
1994 is my birthday so I guess I am two years old. I came to live here when I
was about three weeks old. They fed me by hand and everything, I really liked
that. When it comes to the other birds, I can hold my own. I may be small but
boy I'm tough. The things that I really like to do are take a bath in the sink
and play get the birdie game with my mommy and daddy. You should have seen the
smile on my daddy's face when I could finally whistle the "Bridge over the
River Kwai" I mean he whistled and whistled that tune until I thought I
would be sick of it. It took me a little while to realize that he wanted me to
whistle it back!! Clear as a bell I can say "get the birdie",
"gimme that beak", gimme a kiss", "come here",
"George", "step-up", "bye-bye",
"nite-nite", " good-birdie", and "good boy". That
one drives mommy and daddy nuts cause I know I'm a girl. Stick around , you
never know what my next word might be.

Stevie is my name. In the morning
my mommy calls me Stevieweave. I pretend I don't like it but really I do! I am
visiting in Key West with A.J. and Audri so they don't get homesick and I don't
miss them so much !! My mommy says I am stoic but I think I am just quiet . When
no one is around I talk up a storm. The one thing I wish I could get over, is
that I get scared easily. Oh yeah I'm supposed to tell you that I was born on
Oct. 17, 1994. When I came to live here my daddy was away a lot so I really
bonded to Mommy. At first it was hard to get use to him, and I bit him
sometimes; but he understood that he didn't hand raise me like Mommy did. After
a while I began to love him, and now we are great friends. My nickname for the
longest time was Kama-Kazi Bird because I would just jump off my playpen onto
the tile floor and break open my chest. They finally got me this thing that goes
from the playpen to the floor in a circle around the stand; now I just walk
down. I will be writing home to mommy and daddy to tell them how much I like or
hate KeyWest.

On Feb. 12, 1995 a wonderful thing
happened. Want to know what it was?? I was born!!! I am the apple of my
mom’s eye. She never uses the b*** word around me because I’m not
one, (bird that is). I know that a mistake was made somewhere and I have
feathers instead of skin, but I can overlook it, so you should too. Sometimes
she uses the word brat to describe me but I am sure that means something
wonderful. For those of you who don’t know I am very intelligent and will
be able to do a lot of things once I am more mature. Right now I am a great
mimic. I can do A.J.’s car alarm, the telephone, Ziggy, and just about any
noise that is annoying!! I also can say “Shadow”, “Only the
Shadow Knows”, “Shadowado”, and “Step-up”. My mom
and dad are using the Dr. Irene Pepperberg method of teaching me colors. So far I find it
very interesting to watch them tell each other the colors of these little keys
while handing them back and forth. So far I haven’t participated verbally
yet but, I might real soon. My favorite things to do are go in the car and
shopping; drink all the coke I can steal from mom and dads glass when they are
not looking, and eat whatever is on their plates. Stay tuned to see how I am
doing with that color thing.

I’ve
got the music in me,I’ve got the music in me, I’ve got the music in
me!!! Hence my name. When mom and dad got me they realized right away my
love for music, I can’t keep still when the radio is on. When I hear a
song I really like I cock my head and just groove to the tune. There just was no
other choice of a name for me since my mom is a die-hard Elvis fan. And the fact
that I turned out to be a boy, well that just worked out really well. Sept. 17,
1995 is my birthday. I was 2 months old when I came here to live. Mom had seen
me at Patti and Rich DeRosa’s place about a month before, but dad
didn’t think I should come and live here because it might upset Shadow.
Well he finally did come and see me and the rest is history. I think Shadow
likes me well enough. Not that I care, really. The only things that interest me
are music and being with mom and dad. I love to slide down the pole of my
t-stand and find them wherever they are. Since I do slide down the pole, I
scatter the bedding material all over the place and it sure is hard to walk on
corncob, so mom found crushed walnut (Contact Kayteeabout the warning on walnut bedding.) and it is
much easier to walk on. It also is not digestable and should not be put where I
might eat it !!! Anyway read about all the beddings and precautions. Now more
about me! Nothing in this house is off limits to me (or so I think)!!! If you
are in the shower watch out because you will be showering with me!! I
don’t care who you are; I will come running when I hear that water and
just jump right in with you. Hopefully there will soon be some pictures of me in
the shower. I love to sit on a baby gate or the back of the waterbed and look
outside. Next to that I love to go outside. Mom really has to watch me because,
if that door is open, out I go. We do go outside everyday so I really do get to
indulge myself in the grass. Since I’m only 7 months old I
don’t say much; “Hello”,
“Step-up”, and I am really trying to say “I Love
You”, is about all, but I know I will only improve with age.

My story is very different from
the other members of this house. I came here from an elderly lady, who only had
me for two months. By the way I am about one month younger than Elvis. I was
advertised in the local paper. My mom and dad wanted another Blue and Gold that
was not related to Elvis, so they came to look at me. I have to say that I
really loved Norma, the lady that had me, but she really did not know anything
about vitamins, nutrition, or proper housing for me. As a result my feathers
look ragged and my colors are not what they could be. The first thing they did
was take me to see their vet, Dr. Bond
at Harrison Bird Hospital (its a long way), before they even brought me to
their house . They didn't want to expose the other members of their family to me
until they were sure I was all right. Well I can tell you it really hurt my
feelings, but I went anyway, just to prove to them that I was okay. They also
wanted to know what sex I am. Well they could of asked me and I would have told
them!! I am a girl. I checked out healthy and here I am. I really like it here.
I get to stay on a playpen all day and only go in my cage at night. Anytime I
want I can get down and go anywhere I want to. I also love the shower, but
unlike Elvis I wait to be invited in. Plain as day I can say “Hello”
and the only other word I can say is a naughty one, because Norma had a dog and
I heard it all the time. That word is “shut- Up”!! Pretty cute,
huh?? Well mom and dad are trying to change that to "step-up", and I
am trying to cooperate with them. I know that they got me so that Elvis and I
would someday get together. Well we are far too young right now; even if that
never happens, I have already wormed my way into their hearts.

Hi! My name is Sammy. One day my
sister and I were sitting in our nest waiting for our Mommy when a big wind came
and knocked down the tree our nest was in. Mommy came back and tried to keep us
safe on the ground (where our nest was), but the cats in the neighborhood kept
eyeing us. Soon these people came, and me and my sister went to live at Alexis'
house. She took care of us, fed us, and kept us safe. Not long after arriving at
Alexis' house, my sister died. My new Mommy was so sad, but kept on feeding me
until I was big enough to fly and feed myself. She started letting me stay on
the patio table at night. (I didn't feel too safe there so I found my own place
to stay, and flew back to my new Mommy every morning.)
The people in my new neighborhood
helped take care of me too by letting me stay in their garage when a big wind or
rain came up (if I was not at home). Well, I finally decided to go look for my
real Mommy. I didn't find her yet, but I met a nice girl and took her home to
see my new Mommy who said Hi to us. I think we will go check out some new
places, and who knows maybe we'll visit my new Mommy again in the future. I'll
let you know.
