CAUTION:  Parrotmount Aviaries at 1781 Barber Road, Sarasota, Florida 34240, sells sub-standard stainless steel cages, and provides little or no customer support or warranty.

On November 12, 2005 we purchased four stainless steel cages  from Parrotmount Aviaries at a bird show.  We went on a three week vacation to the Grand Canyon in Colorado, and took our birds in our RV (customized for our birds).

Once we returned we noticed that the four cages purchased from Parrotmount Aviaries were rusting, although the two other cages (one custom built, the other purchased locally) were not rusting.  I contacted Parrotmount's owner, Doug, and explained that his stainless steel cages were rusting.  He forwarded my email, and the pictures I had included to his supplier Yong Wang.  Apparently these cages are from Taiwan and use a lower grade of stainless steel.

They suggested that I use some stainless steel polish to clean the rust.  I replied that (1) we do not use any chemicals on our birds cages that may harm the birds, since they chew on them, and (2) the rust is so extensive and located in locations that make it impossible to reach with polishing cream.  Their response was:

"I am not going to give you a refund.  If you would have cleaned the cages  you would not have these problems."

We clean the cages daily with water, and thoroughly on weekends with a steam cleaner.  I would not recommend purchasing cages from these people.

They did not offer to exchange or otherwise assist with the problem beyond the comment indicated above.
